Baie D'Urfe Curling Club

Officially called the "Ladies Curling Association of the Canadian Branch of the Royal Caledonian Curling Club", but more commonly called the "L.C.A.". The LCA is approaching its 100th Anniversary in 2004.

The Ladies Curling Association held their first meeting, February 4, 1904. Forty-four delegates from Utica Curling Club (Brookline), Lachine, Montreal, Perth, Quebec, Rideau of Ottawa and St. Lawrence got together to make a draw for a yearly bonspiel and, out of this original thought, the L.C.A. was born. The name, Ladies Curling Association, was not adopted until the following year. Montreal Ladies' Club (awarded title "Royal" in 1924), St. Lawrence Curling Club and Lachine Curling Club, were the first members.

The Aims of the Association are:

1. To unite clubs throughout Western Quebec and Eastern Ontario.
2. To promote the game of curling.
3. To regulate and administer the conduct of the game generally and to conduct
Association competitions among member clubs and their members.

The LCA challenge games include:

Dudley Kerr: for junior curlers
Ted Thompson: for senior curlers
Birks: for senior curlers

The LCA Business Ladies' games include:

Debutantes: for curlers with 5 years experience and less
McCallum / Filly: for curlers with 7 years experience and less
Gillies / Wallingford: for everyone

LCA McCallum Filly Championship

It is with great pride that BDCC welcomes home its McCallum Fillies team (less than 7 years experience) skipped by Cathy Vincent having won the LCA McCallum Filly Championship in Maxville, Ontario! Johnson, and Lead - K. Cunningham! Congratulations team!
